For the second year in a row Notus Elementary has made its Adequate Yearly Progress, as required by the Federal No Child Left Behind Act. Way to go Notus Elementary!
Along with this great news, the administration is happy to announce that the Notus School District has also made AYP this year! Notus School District was 1 of 60 districts to make AYP this year in Idaho out of 132. Congratulations Notus! What an accomplishment!
To make AYP, a school must meet statewide student achievement goals in 41 different target areas during a given school year. The 41 targets include students in the entire school, students with disabilities, students with limited English proficiency and students who are economically disadvantaged.

Thank you Notus students and staff for all your hard work and effort! This is a great achievement!

THE NOTUS MEET AND GREET WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!
Thank you everyone who attended the Notus School District Meet and Greet. It was a huge success. The turnout was bigger than we could have hoped for! I hope everyone had a good time, a chance to meet the Notus staff and had plenty to eat. Thank you Notus for your excellent parent involvement!
If you see a Notus PTO member please tell them thank you for all the work they did helping to put on the Meet and Greet. We also need lots more parents to join up for the Notus PTO, they can never have too many members! If you would like to be a part of the Notus PTO please call or email Miss Golden at the elementary or stop in and ask at the office. Also, thanks Mr. Tindall for your time and the use of your BBQ.
PICTURE DAY IS TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1st. Student's just need to bring their best smile!
The Elementary is doing another big push for great attendance the first 9 weeks of school. To really encourage students to try and be at school everyday and to show the students that we as a staff feel it's important for for them to be at school everyday, Notus Elementary is doing another incentive drawing for great attendance. Every student, kindergarten through sixth grade, who has 2 or less absences for the first quarter will be put into a drawing for a new Gameboy DS Lite. We will have an assembly at the end of the first quarter and draw a winner at that time. If you have any questions about our push for great attendance, please contact me anytime!

IMPORTANT CHANGES FOR THE ELEMENTARY!
WELCOME!
Registration is tomorrow, Aug. 12th! Students come back on Aug. 24th!!
Welcome back to a brand new year! I hope everyone is as excited to start back as I am!!
This year we will have a few important changes to the Notus Elementary schedule.
- The start time for students has changed to 8:10 am, instead of 8:15 am. This is to help align the elementary and high school. The tardy bell will ring at 8:15.
- The lunch schedule and lunch procedure has changed this year.
The student lunch and lunch recess is scheduled for 45 minutes. Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades will go to lunch at 11:00 am; 3rd and 4th grades will go to lunch at 11:10 am; and 5th and 6th grades will go to lunch at 11:20 am. When students arrive for lunch, they will be required to stay in the lunch room and eat for at least 15 minutes, after 15 minutes students will be given the option to stay and continue eating or go out to recess.
11:00-11:45………….Lunch / recess (K-2)
11:10-11:55………….Lunch / recess (3-4)
11:20-12:05………….Lunch / recess (5-6)
- The start time for Afternoon Kindergarten is still being discussed and once registration is over and the Bus Supervisor has had a chance to look at the routes of both the morning students going home and the afternoon students coming to school a decision will be made.
- This year we have moved around a lot of teachers and will be welcoming couple of new ones.
- Because of large numbers in first grade we will be hiring another 1st grade teacher before the start of school. To be announced.
- We have a new PE teacher. Brad Huter.
- Amy Aitchison will be teaching the AM and PM Kindergarten this year.
- Tausha Krohn will be teaching the other 3rd grade class.
- Erycka Johnson will be teaching the other 5th grade class.
We also have a new elementary secretary. Kim Adamson.
